Indoor Air Quality

Indoor air quality (IAQ) can affect anyone while inside their home, office, or other establishment. It refers to the ambient air quality in or around buildings or structures as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants and the amount of ventilation and circulation of air. IAQ can be affected by the release of gas like carbon monoxide from combustion engines or carbon dioxide from respiration, vapors from paints and commercial cleaning products, dusts from nearby industrial processes or contractor renovations, mists from cooling towers and water sprays to keep vegetables fresh, and fumes from welding, cutting, or brazing operations to repair equipment or machinery. IAQ has a biological agent component whereby structures damaged by water intrusion or storm damage can amplify growth on buidling materials and contents. Other biological hazards may be related to dog, cat, or cochroach allergens. Indoor environmental quality (IEQ) refers to the ambient air temperature and relative humidity related to thermal comfort, visiual quality, lighting, and the acoustics within the occupied space. The following video will provide more information on the subject of indoor air quality and indoor environmental quality.
