Occupational Health

Occupational health refers to the identification and control of the risks arising from chemical, physical, biological, radiological, human factors, ergonomic, and other workplace hazards in order to establish and maintain a safe and healthy workplace environment. Some of these hazards include chemical agents and solvents, heavy metals such as inorganic lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, mercury, etc., physical agents such as loud noises and vibration from machinery, human factors and ergonomics from operating portable power tools and equipment. Since 1990, The Windsor Consulting Group, Inc. has combined hazard identification with risk to select and use the most appropriate controls to protect workers and their family, public and community, and the environment.

These chemicals may be expose workers as a gas, vapor, fume, dust, and/or mist by inhalation, ingestion, or skin absorption. Furthermore, OSHA regulatory obligations require monitoring workers to determine if engineering and/or administrative controls along with respirators and protective clothing and equipment , biological monitoring, medical surveillance, and training can reduce the risk.

Seasoned ABIH Certified industrial Hygienists (CIHs) are available for consult or onsite investigation to evaluate the workforce, policy, programs, and procedures.

Construction Health Hazards and Risks

Existing building methods, demolition, and new construction work activities bring about loss control problems that affect the health of all trades. Tunnels present unique challenges as do bridges, roads, high-rise buildings, and maintenance and repairs of ships. The Windsor Consulting Group, Inc. meshes occupational health hazards with loss control engieering practices to reduce the risk to tolerable levels.

New staffing and regulations on hazard communication requires workers to know about toxic chemicals and use of respirators and protective equipment.

Indoor Air Quality and Indoor Environmental Air Quality

New energy efficient construction and renovations to existing buildings restricts the amount of outdoor air entering a building. If the air pollutants are allowed to increase in concentrations, building occupants may complaint of odors, asthma or allergens in the air. Other health complaints may be related to temperature, relative humidity, stuffiness, headaches, and/or irritation of the eyes, upper or lower respiratory tract and skin. Sometimes water intrusion or water damage can can result in hidden damage inside walls, ceiling, and floors.

The Windsor Consulting Group, Inc. has demonstrated past performance in the evaluation of all types of indoor air quality complaints from pest infestations to chemicals used during renovation or cleaning.
